I then sobered up and said “Col., I don’t know nothing about that thing.” he said “Well, a few passes over some targets and you’ll be up to speed- just watch your tracers and walk the rounds into the BG’s.” With that big old smile splitting my face I said OK- sounds easy enough!!

I told him that probably in another 2 to 3 weeks the trail up to the valley would be open. He asked if it was possible to make it sooner. Well yea- might lose some of the cows, but not a lot, why? He told me that if we went early the runoff would wash out the trail and nobody would probably head up there.
